Interesting!

Now this is pretty interesting. Blogger has changed a lot! I don't know how long the changes have been effective, but it's different! Anywayz...everything has been so crazy, that I haven't posted since June. I can't even imagine why anyone would be on here reading this posting unless just by mere accident they happened upon the page! But just if in case you have kept checking back, I'll fill you in on what has been going on...

DH got laid off and we went back home to Louisiana. We thought another job would start right away, so we didn't reactivate our Internet (one of the reasons I didn't post).  Our Internet back home is fairly expensive, so we were trying to save every dime we could.  Not getting any leads on the next job, we realized the internet was crucial for email. It's not like we could drive into town everyday to the local library to check our email. Gas is a fortune and we live so far out. We decided we'd reactivate, and DH started updating his resume and applying for jobs elsewhere.

Job searching and praying God would open doors was all we could do, and of course...WAIT! Oh how fun, right? :) Well, we didn't have to wait long. DH's resume was spotted on the internet and an email came through. It seemed too good to be true and a lil far fetched. The company wanted DH to relocate and be at work on Monday if he was interested in the job. It was Thursday evening. He just opted to ignore the email. It seemed a lil odd, because there wasn't much info and the email just said, we found your resume online. Well, we've received lots of those before and most of the time we just send them right to the delete box as they are typically insurance sales positions, door to door sales, and the like.

Friday morning DH got to thinking about the email again 'n told me about it. I basically said ...why not check into it? Just email them back and see what they say.  It won't hurt anything either way. Within a few hours, he had received a phone call back and was heading to the nearest big town for drug testing! That night we hit the Wal-Mart for trunks to pack all our stuff in, packed all night long, and the next morning we were off to New Jersey for an 8-12 week job where DH works as a QA/QC building a solar farm!

New Jersey hasn't been near as nice as Tulsa, OK, but we're thankful to God everyday for the job. There have been lots of ups and downs... more downs than ups, actually but we're still looking up ... God is in control!

More details later... uh... maybe! I'm not too good about getting on this now that school has started! We stay very busy! We may have to start calling our homeschool the 'Home Away From Home' school! :) LOL!

So many exciting things...

We're still on the job in Oklahoma! Looks like it will be a few more weeks! The internet hasn't been the best, so I don't blog much. My daughter has since gotten interested in blogging, and she has her own which she created for her last assignment in her Discovery Girls magazine adventure. The magazine is now out on newsstands, she's been featured in our local newspaper, talked about on the radio and of course in front of our entire church when she took a trip back home for church camp!
To top it all off, at the Louisiana District United Pentecostal International Youth Camp in Tioga, LA, she was brought on stage! If I can figure out how to clip from the DVD I have, I will post it. I am sure she'll want it on her blog, too! They were so excited to share that there was this little Holy Ghost filled Apostolic / Pentecostal girl on the cover of a national magazine AND inside it, she was featured with Bible in hand!

We are so very proud of her! She is truly a blessings and this experience has been a blessing for her! She hopes other girls will see her and take interest in God and that Bible in her hand! Being a witness is what  life is supposed to be about!

Take a moment to check it out!

Yep... i know!!

I really should get on here an post more than once a month! lol! So... this will be my second for this month... i think! ha ha!

Here are some pics on our day out on the town in the big city of Tulsa! We went 'n played some mini golf, went to Ci-Ci's pizza (though I don't know why I didn't snap any pictures), and afterwards we went walking around the mall! btw... the mall here is 3 stories! I am used to a mall not much bigger than maybe 2 Super-Wal-Marts!!! Mall walking can get tiring real quick when a mall is three stories and your not a big fan of shopping!!! YES>>> I did say that! I don't care to shop! I hate trying on clothes! I like to walk, look, and that's about it...'n I don't want to do that for long, but we had a good time as you can see!

silly girls @ ICING
one of the clerks was really nice and was even helping them pic stuff out to take pics in, but don't go to CLAIRES ... you aren't allowed to take pictures!!! :( bummer!
We left!

Ok... totally looks like she's picking her nose!! rofl!
think she was heading up to push those glasses up... I hope!! LOL!

I did happen to snap this one @ CLAIRES before they told us to put up our cameras...

one of our new friends from Tulsa!

Would you believe we met her on our last cruise, and as fate would have it
she happens to live here about 5 mins away from our hotel/home away from home!!

I could't resist playing around w/this photo a bit... It was too cute!

I like the end result!

Fast Kitchen Tip for the Busy Moms

Ok. I don't know how to embed this, so you will have to click on the link.

It's one of the quickest methods I have ever seen for peeling a potato! I am going to try it myself as soon as I go get me a sack of potatoes!

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7375897927147969009#

Of course that means home cooked fries for the kids! We don't get those very often! We typically avoid frying, but ...oh man... I have been wanting some like crazy! Before the cruise, my Aunt & Uncle were in the hotel room right beside us and she made home cooked fries almost every night! She's a fast peeler b/c she has been making home fries for years! Nothing beats her french fries! I know... I know! A potato is a potato but some love goes into these fries! I had a total nostalgic feeling when I popped one in my mouth! Then I felt totally guilty having never made home cooked fries for my kids! I've thrown frozen ones in the fryer but I've NEVER peeled potatoes, sliced 'em, and fried 'em for them! But again... I typically avoid frying all together...which means my kids only get fries occasionally from McDs!

Now... go quick peel them babies (like the video shows) 'n get em fried! Don't forget to pray over them!!! That's the most important part!!!

Have a glorious day and remember God in all that you do!

Finally....I have Internet Again!!!

I was so discouraged getting back from the cruise and settling into our new "home away from home" to discover we have some very poor internet here. The other place was flying. The kids could watch old cartoons and such on NetFlix, I could upload and download just about anything with ease, and we were pretty much in Internet heaven! LOL!
This place is hit and miss. It might as well be dial up. There is absolutely no NetFlix use b/c the shows rebuffer about a dozen times throughout! I tried to upload a cruise video and well... nothing happened! It showed 1% uploaded for about an hour and I went to bed! The next morning I had no Internet and didn't have Internet for almost a week until they reset their server!
Fun! Fun!
Anyway... I did manage to get my pics of fb but haven't put any here. I am giving it a try now. It will probably only be a few b/c I am sure it will take forever to upload. I'll go for a few scenery shots of Isla Roatan, Honduras... to peak your interest! Maybe you will come back for more in about 3 days when the next photos load! rofl! jk! I hope it doesn't take that long!!!

Whoop! Whoop! as us Louisiana'ins say! I am so excited! I was able to load more than one or 2 photos! Anywayz... these are just of Isla Roatan, Honduras! We were on the Pirates, Birds, & Monkeys of the Carribian excursion. I have lots more scenery pics from everywhere we went as well as beach shots, cave tubing in Belize, my son's fishing trip in Belize, boats, and what have ya! So...just give me some time, and I'll get another batch of pics up here! k!  :)

We're back!

Well... we're back from our cruise and back in Oklahoma! They upped our rates where we were staying but we were blessed enough to find a new, nicer home away from home! It is much bigger, so the kids can spread out a bit! ...It's ver nice, too! We love it! Will hopefully get settled soon, post some pics of our new home away from home as well as cruise pics! I know you all would much rather see pics of Belize and Isla Roatan than hotel pics anyway! :) It was awesome, so check back with me soon!

Homeschooling Out of a Hotel Room

I can't even begin to explain how challenging these last few weeks have been for us. We've relocated to another state... temporarily... and are still trying to adjust. At home the kids always have something to do, but since our new home away from home is a hotel room, we don't have many options on what we can do. We haven't been having the best weather, so getting out and about hasn't been at the top of our list.
At home the kids can go play out in their playhouse, on the back porch, or somewhere else in the house! Here in this one room hotel room, there is no where to go and get away and no back yard with a swing set (we did find a nice park, though... it's only been warm enough to go one time, though)! We did bring the wii with us and have it hooked up now, but when there is another family living under you, there really isn't even much you can do on the wii! Jumping all around is not an option! It's already bad enough that my kids sound like elephants when they walk! lol! I do feel sorry for the people below us!
They only have to put up with us for a few more days, though and then we'll head out for that cruise we have had planned! Can't wait! The kids will have plenty of room to run amuck on the ship... with their Camp Carnival & Circle C staff leaders of course and ... HOPEFULLY...  the dh and I can get some 'alone' time! much needed alone time-- I must add! Actually ... when you are living in close quarters like this, everyone is in need of alone time! I am planning on bringing along my Kindle and kicking back in a deck chair! Oh... I so can't wait!! Just a few more days! No home-schooling that week!! That is just as much a break for me as it is for the kids! Countdown on my Dashboard - 6 days, 20 hours, 46 mins!

News... u missed! I have a Bible packing DG girl!

Well, it's not really news u missed! It is more like news I failed to post while going offline for 2 months! My dd was chosen to be featured in Discovery Girls Magazine! Just days before heading to Oklahoma to our new home away from home we went to New Orleans for her photo shoot! It went great! She was photographed with 11 other girls chosen from Louisiana.  So look for her in the issue featuring girls from Louisiana (going out on the newsstands in May). This will be the June/July Issue! & well... I just can't wait! She'll be the long haired sweetheart holding her Bible in her profile shot!
It was sooo funny b/c she said they tried taking pictures of her without her Bible, and she was worried they would use a shot of her without it instead of with it, so she kept looking away with every snap when she didn't have her Bible in her hand! They may have just needed extra pictures for other reasons, but she wasn't taking any chances! That's my baby-girl! Be a witness! Show off The Word of God and be proud you are a Christian! :)

Day 5 Away From Home

Yes... ppl! I know! It has been 2 months since I've posted! Posting on my blog has been the last thing on my mind. While dealing with the whole job loss/unemployment issues, I've been in no mood to blog! God and my family have been the only thing keeping me going.
DH now has a job but it has temporarily relocated us from Louisiana to Oklahoma! Big change for us! We're living out of a extended stay hotel... BTW it's no picnic...4 ppl! 1 room! 2 beds in the same room as the couch & kitchen! hence it's a lil crowded, but we are making it!
'n Actually there should be 5 of us here and not 4...tis what I am liking least of all -- my 14 year old stayed behind for a doc appt and my parents were supposed to bring him to us in a week. Now they are talking about keeping him till we come home for our cruise (the 1 we've had scheduled/pd for forever ago...way before dh losing his job)!
Well....that's 2 more weeks away still...3 weeks being away from my kid! I know he's in good hands, but he's still my baby (even a@ 14) 'n well... I want him w/me!!!! (stamping my feet) :( So of course I am not sleeping much!
As I get ready to settle in for my 5th night away from home, I'll be praying for some sleep! It's not just this unsettling feeling b/c my entire family isn't together-- it's the city! I am used to serenity and sounds of nature!  This temporary home of ours is nestled between a major hwy and the interstate. I hear the roaring of traffic all night long. Living out in the woods, we get the crickets chirping, the occasional rooster crowing from some late night disturbance, and the dog's doing the twilight bark thing.  Oh the sounds of home... much more peaceful than this. I never thought I'd appreciate those barking dogs of ours and our neighbors! lol! I miss 'em already! and I miss my chickens and roosters and fresh farm eggs which I had to give away before we left :( So even when we get home... no fresh farm eggs! No cuddly rabbits either btw! We gave our 4 rabbits away, too :(  The dogs are in the care of my MIL. She wanted the protection and companionship, so it worked out well for them and her!
Anywayz... Just wanted to let you know what's going on in our lives, but it's time to read the Bible before everyone falls asleep, so will cut this short! Hope your last few months have been filled with God's love and blessings! 'n yep...I know I focused on some negatives tonight, and I am sorry... I will do my best to share some positives of our experience as I know there will be some... of course one positive is that dh has a job so that's a blessing... :)  til tomorrow!  & yep... we are still homeschooling!

Blessings,
