Vertical Gastric Sleeve Surgery (for Weight Loss)

Just curious if any of you have ever had a VSG for weight loss. I just got back from accompanying my cousin for her surgery. All went wonderfully. She and I hit the mall last night when we were making our way back to Louisiana from Mexico. We did quite a bit of walking.  Afterwards we picked her up some broth, jello, & juice for the night and the trip home. By the next morning she looked and felt great! I am thankful all went well! Just curious about others' experiences! So far so good here... and if you are curious on the doc... I'm giving a shout out to Dr. Alvarez @ Endobariatric.com who has an awesome team and staff!

Blessings,

    1. Update-- I had a 2nd cousin who went to have this surgery and had no problems. Then my parents both had it! No problems! But be aware.. There can be complications! Another cousin of mine went to have the surgery and nearly died! It was an awful experience! She got a leak, had to go back, kept getting sicker, including going I to a diabetic coma! Boy did we kick it into high gear and pray! You have no idea!! When she finally came out of that and was stable enough to move, so they thought...her husband and my aunt finally took her back to the states! She was uncomfortable, in pain, and couldn't make the long trip to their intended hospital and had to stop at the closest hospital! By the grace of God they felt led to stop and not push on! My poor cousin had so much infection in her, the doctors said that had they went any further, she probably wouldn't have made it! It's been a rough battle but giving thanks only to God she just recently was able to leave the hospital, though she still has a drain and feeding tube! She can now have small amounts of clear liquid! It has been a battle she is still fighting and she is more than 75 days post op and still with a drain tube and feeding tube! So please just know.. There are complications! Yes they are rare but they can be agonizing and can lead to death! Prayer and faith in God is what has kept my cousin alive!! Praise to God and HIM alone!! My cousin is a walking miracle!!!
