Crescent Pups... Yum!

TastyTuesday

"O taste and see that the LORD is good..." Psalms 34:8 (KJV).

We're all for letting our lil guy get some action in the kitchen! It's his favorite place to be! As I mentioned before, he loves the show Good Eats. Actually, I can remember him asking to watch Fooo Nedword when he could barely talk! :) You can try this recipe with your aspiring chef, too. It's easy peazy but makes kids feel like a Food Network star when mom (or dad) starts snapping pictures. If I would have thought about it, I would have shot video... lol! He could have told us all about it as he worked!

I am sure that most are familiar with pigs in a blanket, but we don't eat pork...so we've called these everything: crescent wraps, crescent pups, pups in a blanket, or even toasty pups though they are nothing more than lil' beef smokies wrapped in a crescent roll. Sometimes we add pieces of sliced cheese, too.

UnPigs In A Blanket (rofl!)

Ingredients
1 pk beef lil' smokies
2 to 3 Sliced Cheese
1 pk crescent rolls

1. Pre-heat the oven as directed on the crescent package...typically 375 (guide your lil chef).

2. Open, drain off juice, & empty the lil smokies into a bowl (guide your lil chef).

3. Open & unroll the crescent rolls, separate the sections as you usually would per package directions (do this yourself, unless you want a mess).

4. Score each sections into thirds so instead of 1 crescent roll, you will have the wrap for 3 crescent pups (do this step yourself, too). If they are the large ones, you can get more than 3 out of each crescent dough  piece.

5. Someone feeling cheesy? score 2 or 3 slices of cheese into 8 sections each (do this step yourself, or show your lil chef how to fold the sliced cheese so it breaks into pieces). Note: He/She will eat the cheese! :o)

6. Lay out everything for assembly.

7. Instruct your lil chef to choose a small strip of cheese and lay it atop of a strip of crescent roll, then grab one of the smokies 'n get ta rolling!

8. Kids can slowly and carefully carry the pan to the oven, but of course, Moms/Dads, you have to put it in.... tis HOTTTTTT!

9. Bake as directed on the package... usually about 10 mins. Two of my kids like them crispy. I personally prefer to let them go a little less, b/c I like mine a little soft and squishy inside (the reason we do two pans).

Have fun with this & enjoy!
